Like the rest of the world, our community in Mexico is grappling with the challenges of COVID-19. In high poverty communities, like the San Quintin Valley, the social and economic impact is augmented. The lack of work and the closure of NGO’s offering important social services have left many families struggling to pay rent and put food on the table. With your generous support, we have been able to send care packages to dozens of the most vulnerable families we work with. We are also partnering with local senior centers to ensure they have the support they need to continue caring for their residents. We are so grateful for your prayers and support for Francisco. As you know, we worked for months to get him transferred to a burn center in the United States. After two months of successful surgeries and therapies, he’s been discharged and is now living in our home while he continues to recover. Please pray for his physical, emotional, and psychological progress and for patience, wisdom, and energy for the staff working with him each day.
Even though our school is closed, we are grateful for the opportunity to bring in certain children to receive daily physical therapy. We are taking all necessary precautions to protect their health while ensuring that they do not become contractured during the long quarantine.
- Pray for the health and safety of the families we work with during these difficult times.
- Please pray for funding for our school build. We are raising money for a building that will give us the capacity to almost double in size and offer quality specialized education to even more children.
- Please pray for new houseparents for our residential program. We are looking for a couple to take over one of the homes and offer loving, full-time care to six children.
