Almost a year ago, I was given a tour of a government facility that houses children who have been removed from situations of abuse and neglect by Child Protective Services. This facility was built for 150 children, but at the time, more than 300 children were living there. Among these children were more than 30 boys and girls with special needs. The staff do the best they can with the limited resources at their disposal, but they need help. These children deserve a loving home where their physical and emotional needs are being met. When I wrote about my experience at this facility, I was amazed and humbled by the generous response of a couple who committed to funding the entirety of our second home in order to take in more children.

As we near the end of the build, we are now hiring a loving couple to join the Eternal Anchor team as caregivers. This is what differentiates Eternal Anchor from all of the other special needs children’s homes in the state: a family model. Institutional care may be a cheaper, easier model to operate, but we believe these children deserve better. They deserve a safe, loving home and loving, committed parents. They shouldn’t have to grow up in a crowded facility where overtaxed staff don’t even know their names. The building of the home was the first step. Now, we need great people to live there and care for our children.

You have an opportunity to help. You have the chance to be a part of this amazing work by helping us cover these new staff salaries. The annual salaries for this new couple and an assistant is about $20,000 USD. We have been blessed with a matching grant of up to $10,000 USD, which means we only need to raise $10,000 more to cover these new expenses for the next year.

It’s estimated that less than 5% of all foreign aid goes to towards disability services in high-poverty communities. We are part of that 5%. We are meeting a need that nobody else is meeting in our region. Now we need your help to do more. Please join the 5% and show that the lives of these children matter. Help us reach our goal of $10,000 so these children can grow up in a family. You can give a one-time gift or sign up to give monthly. Thank you for your continued prayers and support!
