This is what my desk looks like. It’s filled with case files of children and adults with special needs in a nearby community. These cases come from just one of the many communities we work in. The reality is, we have dozens and dozens of these case files from all around our region. Each of these files represents someone who desperately needs education and/or therapy services. Most of them are on our waitlists.
This time of year is both exciting and challenging. We love seeing our students after summer break and we get to celebrate the start of the new school year. At the same time, we are reminded of the massive need in our community for special education services. At the start of the school year, we look at our large waitlist and we make the difficult decision of which students we can accept into our education programs. It’s hard to see only a few names get scratched off that list. We would love to take them all in. Unfortunately, we are limited by finances. Even though we have the physical space to take in a few more students, we need more teachers and more gas money each month to make it happen.
We may not be able to meet the needs of every child and adult with special needs in the San Quintin Valley. But with your help and prayers, we can continue putting a dent in it. Please consider signing up to give monthly. Help us spread hope and love to this precious, vulnerable population.
Thank you!
