Eternal Anchor Partners with Bienestar for Autism Support

Eternal Anchor is proud to be at the forefront of autism support in rural Mexico through a groundbreaking partnership with Mexico’s Secretaría de Bienestar (Secretary of Welfare). Launched last September, this initiative provides specialized services for children with autism and their families, focusing on academics, integration, socialization, and play therapy. In collaboration with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the program also offers crucial support for parents, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to advocate for their children.

To date, we have provided more than 900 therapy sessions to children and more than 90 psycho-educational workshops to parents. Forty-five children and adolescents with autism now receive consistent, high-quality support at Eternal Anchor’s school in Emiliano Zapata and the Eternal Anchor Ranch. “This collaboration is essential to improving quality of life and strengthening social well-being,” said Deborah Garcia, Eternal Anchor’s co-founder and Director of Justice and Equity. “We are honored to work alongside the Secretaría de Bienestar to ensure children with autism receive the support they deserve.” Through partnerships like this, Eternal Anchor continues to lead the way in creating a more inclusive and compassionate society.

New Mural Celebrates Indigenous Heritage and Eternal Anchor’s Impact

We are excited to unveil a stunning new mural at Posada Ancla Eterna, crafted by local artist Julia Celeste with the assistance of Grecia Vaol. This vibrant artwork graces the upper section of the main room’s wall at Posada Ancla Eterna, and pays homage to the rich indigenous heritage of the San Quintin Valley. Highlighting the stories of the Kiliwa, Paipai, Kumeyaay, and Cochimí peoples—who have called this valley home for centuries—the mural beautifully captures the resilience and traditions that continue to shape our community. While the majority of the valley’s residents are now Mestizo, the presence and cultural contributions of indigenous communities remain a vital part of our regional identity.

The mural also honors Eternal Anchor’s mission by including portraits of four beloved individuals: Jesús, the child who inspired our journey more than a decade ago; Angel and Leila, whose lives continue to inspire our work; and Eva, whose spirit—though she passed away in 2023—lives on in our hearts. At the center of the mural is a representation of Los Humedales of San Quintin, a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance. This ecological treasure supports a diverse array of wildlife and plays a crucial role in the livelihoods of local communities. Through this art, we celebrate the interconnectedness of culture, nature, and humanity, underscoring the importance of inclusion and love.

We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors to Posada Ancla Eterna, where they can experience this poignant mural and discover the rich stories of the San Quintin Valley.
