We are excited to unveil a stunning new mural at Posada Ancla Eterna, crafted by local artist Julia Celeste with the assistance of Grecia Vaol. This vibrant artwork graces the upper section of the main room’s wall at Posada Ancla Eterna, and pays homage to the rich indigenous heritage of the San Quintin Valley. Highlighting the stories of the Kiliwa, Paipai, Kumeyaay, and Cochimí peoples—who have called this valley home for centuries—the mural beautifully captures the resilience and traditions that continue to shape our community. While the majority of the valley’s residents are now Mestizo, the presence and cultural contributions of indigenous communities remain a vital part of our regional identity.
The mural also honors Eternal Anchor’s mission by including portraits of four beloved individuals: Jesús, the child who inspired our journey more than a decade ago; Angel and Leila, whose lives continue to inspire our work; and Eva, whose spirit—though she passed away in 2023—lives on in our hearts. At the center of the mural is a representation of Los Humedales of San Quintin, a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance. This ecological treasure supports a diverse array of wildlife and plays a crucial role in the livelihoods of local communities. Through this art, we celebrate the interconnectedness of culture, nature, and humanity, underscoring the importance of inclusion and love.
We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors to Posada Ancla Eterna, where they can experience this poignant mural and discover the rich stories of the San Quintin Valley.
